Pathology results from Panda

 

Some history of Panda and his liver disease:

 

2002-Oct-11 Panda born, smallest puppy in litter of 7 - Pocotesoro’s El Hipo Pequeno (Twins

Gottahav A Jr X Pocotesoro’s Paso Doble)

 

July 2004 - completes CKC championship

 

March 2005 - our 13 year old Pomeranian is put down

 

Spring 2005 - Panda starts to lose some weight and vomits occasionally

 

Autumn 2005 - Vomiting more frequent, undigested kibble regurgitated up to 10 hours after eating

 

End of 2005 - Weight loss continues, energy level very low, Panda does not even want to go for walks

 

Feb 2006 - initial diagnosis of hepatitis after bloodwork, weight down to 9.4 pounds (from 10.5)

 

March 2006 - adjustments to diet (low protein) and feeding regime

 

April 2006 - clinical recovery begins though liver still compromised

 

Autumn 2006 - clinical recovery complete, energy level back to normal, Panda helps get his leash

out for walks

 

November 2006 - achieves CKC Canine Good Neighbour title

 

Feb 2008 - annual physical exam - Panda in excellent health

 

April 2008 - Panda seems to be getting thinner except larger in the abdomen

 

June 2008 - abdomen very large, bloodwork and abdominal fluid sample analyze, results suggest

chronic active hepatitis

 

June 2008 - essentially palliative care

 

July-Aug 2008 - abdominal fluid drained on four or five occasions, approximately 1 litre each time

 

July-Aug 2008 - Panda limited in mobility when abdomen large but still active and happy

 

Aug 27 - Panda stops eating and begins to appear in discomfort

 

Aug 28 - Panda crosses rainbow bridge
